Created for my degree show exhibition, this playful pair of hand-raised Sterling Silver vessels are informed by the connection between mother & child.
Cocoon-like vessels represent an intimate narrative of motherhood, coupled with the otherworldly feelings that follow birth and a surreal sense of observing one’s own identity in flux and acceptance of change. Uncovering my own experiences through meditation and automatic drawing techniques has allowed me to uncover memories deep rooted within my subconscious,
Working with mixed media and by subverting traditional processes, by directly fusing glass and metals, allows me to push the boundaries of what is considered functional or wearable - often to the point of disintegration. Reflecting change through the passage of time and acceptance that all things must eventually end.
